Kingston girl, 17, dies after being struck by car on Lucas Avenue in town of Ulster A 17-year-old Kingston girl died Thursday afternoon after being hit by a car while walking alongside Lucas Avenue, according to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office. Jennifer Curry was declared dead at HealthAlliance Hospital’s Broadway Campus in Kingston after being brought there by a Mobile Life ambulance, the Sheriff’s Office said. The accident happened about 2:30 p.m. near Lucas Avenue’s intersection with Spring Lake Drive. The Sheriff’s Office said the car, a 2007 Infiniti sedan, was southbound and Curry was walking north on the shoulder alongside the southbound lane. The Infiniti was driven by Carol Melamed, 69, of Kerhonkson, the Sheriff’s Office said. No charges against Melamed had been reported as of Thursday evening, but the Sheriff’s Office said the accident still was being investigated.
